Apr 01, 2023 - one year agoEliza just saw her genetic specialist who oversees the Gaucher disease. She shared that her liver was enlarged and showed white spots as well. They said she may have to start enzyme therapy which would be every two weeks for her entire life.
Be in agreement with our family that God can heal her liver and deliver her from this disease! Complete and whole in every way! Thanks! Jennifer Battaglia -

Mar 29, 2023 - one year agoResting OK, off and on. Still on a LOT of ventilator support and sedation meds, and the paralytic to keep him calm. Def pneumonia. No surgery tomorrow, maybe Monday or Tuesday if he improves. They are doing a bronchoscopy now to look at his airways and get a deeper sample to culture, and try to figure out what else is going on. He is still restless with an insane amount of sedation.

Prayer Request for This mornings update on Embry Rumsey
Mar 29, 2023 - one year agoResting pretty well since they got him settled around 1:30 this morning, but it was a scary night. Still on a LOT of ventilator support and sedation meds, a paralytic to keep him calm and still. He's so crazy strong, but he is a sick little boy. Def pneumonia, 2 different bacteria in the lungs. Very unlikely that he can go back to surgery tomorrow. They are going to do a bronchoscopy today to look at his airways and try to figure out what else is going on. Will update when we know more. Thanks everyone. Your love, prayers and support are such a tremendous blessing.

Mar 28, 2023 - one year agoEmbry's oxygen levels dropped suddenly and without cause this afternoon. They have significantly increased his vent settings and now have had to add nitric oxide to keep his levels stable.

Prayer Request for Embry Rumsey
Mar 28, 2023 - one year agoEmbry's sedation had to be increased again. He is very anxious about not being able to move his legs and despite all the drugs they have him on, he is so restless. Lori/Granny (paternal grandmother) was able to calm him down and explained that they have to finish fixing his back. Please pray that we can keep him calm these next few days and that after surgery Thursday he will be able to move his legs and will be able to be extubated. Our hearts are breaking for him.

Prayer Request for Embry Rumsey, update
Mar 26, 2023 - one year agoWe've had nothing but complications since surgery. He is also running a fever today and they are trying to figure out what's causing it. He remains intubated and struggling to relax. It's been a very difficult 4 days. There's nothing worse than seeing your child or grandchild hurt and not being able to help. Our hearts are hurting. As of now, surgery is still planned for Thursday.

Mar 23, 2023 - one year agoThey got thru most of the surgery before they had to stop, but the neuro monitoring that the team does every 3 minutes throughout the surgery changed suddenly indicating his spinal cord needed a break. So, they put one rod in to stabilize his spine and closed the incision. They are putting in a central line for more meds and fluids. They were going to try to wake him up just enough to see if he could move his arm and his legs. Then he will go to ICU for at least 3 days and they will try surgery again next Thursday.

Mar 23, 2023 - one year agoThey had to stop the surgery bc of issues with his spinal nerves responding which we knew could happen. They couldn't finish, but he's been under anesthesia for 9 hours. Will know more in a little bit when surgeon talks to us. Will update you all then. Stacey Rumsey
